The observation area on the Missouri bank of the river drew hundreds of people on Sunday for the unique opportunity to walk out to the rock formation usually only accessible by boat. The parking lot and access road were jammed with vehicles, and many parked along the railroad track. Later when a train tried to pass, at least two pickup trucks were scraped by the train. One of the truck's tires were flattened by the contact.
WFCN News reported that the train had to stop because of the incident, and dozens of cars were blocked in for several hours. The narrow access and congestion also made it difficult for police to get to the scene.
No one was injured in the accident.
