An Illinois fugitive was arrested in Graves County on Wednesday on an out-of-state warrant charging him with the battery of a police officer.
Deputies said they received a tip that 20-year-old Malachi Johnson of Belleville would be at a business in the Hickory area Wednesday for work. Johnson was wanted out of St. Clair County for disorderly conduct and aggravated battery of a police officer.
Authorities said they staked out the area, made a positive ID of Johnson and arrested him without incident.
He was charged with being a fugitive from another state and taken to the Ballard County Jail, where he will await extradition.
