Theft investigation leads to drug charges for Paducah woman and Mayfield man

A Paducah woman and Mayfield man are facing drug charges as part of an ongoing theft investigation. 

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office and Paducah Police were working together to investigate a reported theft from a Paducah home.

Authorities said a white Uhaul pick up truck reportedly left the house and was later seen and stopped by Paducah Police officers who held it until deputies could arrive and continue their theft investigation. 

During the investigation K9 Bobi conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle and reportedly indicated there was a presence of an odor for an illicit substance. Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the truck and said they found methamphetamine, marijuana, and several different prescription controlled substances.

Deputies also located at least one item that was alleged to have been stolen from the home. Deputies arrested Henry Ashworth and Jennifer Roper.  

Roper is facing several possession of a controlled substance charges as well as illegal possession of a legend drug. 

Ashworth is also facing several possession of a controlled substance charges along with tampering with physical evidence. 

Deputies said more charges are likely to be forthcoming as the investigation continues into the alleged theft.
