House fire near Hazel claims a life

A house fire on Tuesday night in Calloway County claimed the life of a Hazel man.

Calloway County Fire Rescue was called out just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday for the fire along State Line Road, just east of Hazel. The report said that the home had heavy fire coming from all sides. Once on scene, witnesses told firefighters that someone was still inside. Their search located an elderly man in a bedroom. He was brought out of the blaze, but later passed away from the injuries sustained.

The name of the victim has not been released.
