A New Mexico man was arrested in connection with a stabbing in Mayfield on Sunday.
Mayfield police and Graves County deputies responded to the 200 block of North 4th Street and found a 39-year-old man with a stab wound to his back. They said the suspect left the area before they arrived.
The victim was airlifted to a Nashville hospital in stable condition.
Police identified the suspect as Victor Manuel Moya-Hernandez of Albuquerque, and tracked him to a motel in Cairo, Illinois.
Cairo police found his vehicle, and deputies from Alexander County and Ballard County went to the motel and took Moya-Hernandez into custody.
He was charged with first-degree assault and is lodged in the Pulaski County detention center pending extradition to Graves County.
