They said 69-year-old Kevin Frey of Gilbertsville died in the fire that occurred on Saturday afternoon. Deputies said they located Frey in one of the apartments where the fire is believed to have initiated.
Marshall County detectives, the county coroner and state fire marshal's office are investigating the cause of the fire, but the sheriff's office said they don't believe the fire to be suspicious.
Multiple fire departments and emergency responders went to the scene after a call around 3:20 p.m. The fire was put out within the hour, but US 641 remained blocked into the evening.
