The National Weather Service said it was an EF-1 tornado that struck southern Caldwell County on Tuesday afternoon, causing damage to some homes and buildings.
The tornado had peak winds of 100 mph when it struck Kentucky 139 near the Hopson community.
Four homes and a barn were damaged but no one was injured. The storm survey team said a mobile home was lifted and moved about 30 feet and destroyed.
The length of the tornado was four-tenths of a mile and was 125 yards wide.
According to the weather service, this is the second tornado in three years to hit the Hopson community.
