Stewart named to District 3 school board seat in Ballard County

The Ballard County Board of Education voted at its regular monthly meeting Monday night to appoint Ben Stewart to the District 3 seat. 

The position became vacant in November, when the resignation of long-time board member Brandon Birney became official. Stewart’s term will expire on Dec. 31, 2026. 

An election to fill the seat will be held in November 2026. 

Stewart is a lawyer based in Paducah. He is a 2004 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from Centre College. His doctorate is from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
