South Dakota quilter takes AQS Best of Show award

A South Dakota quilter claimed best of show honors as the American Quilters Society handed out awards at the AQS Quilt Show and Contest on Tuesday night.

Laurie Tigner of Rapid City won with "A February's Dream of Spring."

Tigner's quilt, along with the other category winners, will be on display this week at the Schroeder Expo Center as Quilt Week runs Wednesday through Saturday.

After the quilt show, Tigner's work will be on display at Paducah's National Quilt Museum.

Other category winners were brought in from Maryland, Kansas, Maine and Florida.

Other winners from around the world included quilts from China, Japan, Canada, Spain, South Africa and the Netherlands.
