SkyWest Airlines seeks to terminate service to 29 airports in the U.S., including Barkley Regional Airport, due to pilot shortages.
The filing would request termination of service in the Paducah market 90 days from the filing date. During these 90 days, the DOT will solicit bids from all carriers interested in providing service to the Paducah market.
“Our catchment data confirms there’s enough demand to successfully support new air service at Barkley,” said Executive Director Dennis Rouleau. “The Paducah region is a great market and soon we’ll have a beautiful terminal for our next airline partner(s) to operate out from.”
Officials said SkyWest would continue to provide air service to Barkley Regional Airport during this process and until the DOT selects a new provider.
Cape Girardeau's airport is also on the Skywest service cancellation list.
