We're now officially in the deep freeze, according to the National Weather Service office in Paducah.
High temperatures will struggle to reach freezing today and Monday before gradually recovering to the 30s on Tuesday and warming to the 40s through the week.
Wind chill values will be in the single digits through Tuesday morning, even as low as 5 below zero along the I-64 corridor toward Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Outside of a few flurries, dry conditions are anticipated, with low enough humidity levels that may lead to elevated wildfire concerns today and Monday.
Confidence is still low on the possibility of a wintry mix of precipitation at the end of this week, but meteorologists will keep an eye on models closer to its arrival.
