A Mayfield woman has been arrested in connection to an incident where shots were fired in downtown Paducah in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Paducah Police said they determined that 26-year-old Keyja R. Hammonds was the driver of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction on Broadway. Detectives are still trying to identify the passenger who fired the shots in the air.
After a warrant was issued for Hammonds, she reportedly turned herself in. She was charged with wanton endangerment and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.
Police were not notified of the incident, which reportedly took place about 2:30 a.m., until 4:50 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police that a black male fired shots out of the passenger window of the vehicle traveling the wrong way on Broadway, as a bar in the 400 block was closing and customers were walking outside.
Detectives reportedly determined Hammonds was driving the vehicle, identified as a white Toyota Camry with a Texas plate NPN6352. Detectives also said the vehicle was stolen.
Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Paducah Police.
Information can also be left via text or tipline to West Kentucky Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers could award a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment.
