Third arrest made in Mayfield attempted murder, assault case

**UPDATE**

A third arrest has been made related to the kidnapping and attempted murder incident that occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday morning on West Lockridge Street in Mayfield.

Mayfield Police said that 38-year-old Patrick Cameron of Mayfield was arrested and charged with the kidnapping of a minor. Mayfield Police detectives could not confirm to West Kentucky Star the exact role Cameron played in the incident due to the ongoing investigation. 

The arrest warrant for Cameron was issued on Thursday. He was taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center.

A report of shots fired in a Mayfield neighborhood resulted in two arrests and charges of attempted murder for one suspect.

Mayfield Police received calls about shots being fired on West Lockridge Street just after midnight on Wednesday. One of the callers reported two bullets struck their home and just missed a sleeping teenager. 

Investigators believe that a female juvenile and a male adult baited victims to a West Lockridge home, allegedly assaulting them. That is when the reported shots were fired striking the nearby home and a vehicle parked outside with people sitting inside. One of the alleged assault victims got away on foot trying to find help and was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The victims in the vehicle called 911 for help, as well.

A suspect also fled on foot from the home following the shots. Mayfield Police located that individual back at the home later on Wednesday and took them in for questioning. According to the report, a small child was in the care of the two suspects and was in the home when the incident occurred.

Police arrested 18-year-old Jaylen Thomas of Mayfield and charged him with three counts of attempted murder, kidnapping, and wanton endangerment. The female juvenile was charged with conspiracy to kidnapping as well as wanton endangerment.  

Kentucky State Police and the Graves County Sheriff's Office are assisting Mayfield Police with the ongoing investigation.
