The National Weather Service in Paducah has been saying all week that Friday could be stormy. Now that forecast has ramped up in the past 24 hours.

The upgraded moderate chance for severe weather for southwestern Kentucky could include a potentially significant outbreak of storms, with the possibility of some strong or long-track tornadoes. Damaging wind gusts are also a primary concern.

While the entire four-state area could see severe weather, the greatest risk looks to be in the Missouri bootheel and southwestern Kentucky.

The timing of arrival for Friday's storms for areas west of Kentucky Lake will be between noon and 8pm. East of the lakes, arrival is anticipated from 4pm until midnight Friday.

Saturday will revert to sunny but cooler, with brisk northwest winds and a high in the 50s.

After this round of severe weather, meteorologists are already looking at the possibility of more unsettled weather and storms next week, possibly around Wednesday.
