UPDATE NOON -- Only 950 Trigg County customers are still without power after this morning's failure of a TVA transmission line. 1300 Christian County residents are still waiting to be restored.

UPDATE 10 AM -- More than 6500 Trigg County customers have had power restored since 8 a.m., as well as about 1000 customers in Christian County.

About 3200 are still out in Trigg County, and 1300 are still without power in Christian County.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Thousands of Pennyrile Electric customers were suddenly without power when they woke up this morning.

According to the utility, TVA lost its 161 kV transmission feed around 6 a.m., which caused an electric outage to 12,000 customers. TVA located the line problem by 8 a.m.

As of 8:45 a.m. about a thousand of those customers were restored, but power was still out for 9700 residents in Trigg County,  2300 in Christian County, and few others in Lyon and Caldwell counties.

On its Facebook page, Pennyrile said its electric and TVA crews were working together to restore power to the Cerulean and Rockcastle Substations and a few circuits in the Cadiz substation, but overall power restoration can't happen until the TVA transmission line is repaired.
