Since the declaration of an emergency response to the McCracken County tornado centered in the Freemont community March 3, an enormous amount of debris was collected in the clean-up.

As of nearly two weeks of cleanup on March 16, some 264 dump truck loads, exceeding 4,200 cubic yards of debris had been collected and dumped.

McCracken County Judge-Executive Craig Clymer issued a statement on Friday thanking everyone who helped in the recovery efforts.

Those acknowledge ranged from the Kentucky Highway Department and McCracken County Road Department to hundreds of volunteers. He noted that supporting the effort were McCracken County Emergency Medical Services and Rescue.

Clymer said county officials are notifying affected residents that the operation will terminate with final collection at noon Wednesday, March 22. Also by Wednesday, roads will reopen to all traffic.

Clymer wrote, "On behalf of McCracken County, and Commissioners (Richard) Abraham, (Bill) Bartleman, and (Eddie) Jones, I want to thank all residents, volunteers, and state and county employees for the outstanding cooperation and selfless determination to assist our neighbors in the Community."
