Golconda musician Mason Ramsey is featured this week in a prominent national music magazine.
Ramsey was interviewed by Music Row Magazine about his viral rise to fame, and his new direction in music style.
Ramsey has been on local stages like the Kentucky Opry since at least 4 years old, but it was the breakout YouTube video of 11-year-old Mason yodeling in the aisles of a southern Illinois Walmart -- viewed more than 88 million times -- he was quickly thrust into the entertainment spotlight with appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and the Ellen Show. He appeared at Coachella, in the music video "Old Town Road" and a Burger King commercial.
This summer he was included in the music soundtrack of the movie "Twisters," and he has a new album coming out this week.
Now 17, Ramsey's deeper voice has led him to explore a "retro revival" of songs inspired by the 50s, 60s and 70s sounds of icons like Elvis and Roy Orbison.
