A man is dead and his wife is in custody after a stabbing early Tuesday morning in Paducah.
Paducah Police responded about 4:45 a.m. to the area of Seitz and Mississippi Streets where they found 56-year-old Robert Penn lying in the street with what appeared to be stab wounds. McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton was called in and pronounced Penn dead at the scene.
Penn's wife, 41-year-old Cocina M. Penn, reportedly told police they were attacked by an unknown assailant while walking. Further investigation by detectives uncovered evidence that contradicted her story. The evidence suggested Cocina Penn as the perpetrator.
Cocina Penn was arrested and charged with murder and domestic violence. She was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday on Robert Penn at the Regional Crime Lab in Madisonville.
