An ongoing investigation nets a big drug bust for a newly formed task force.
The new River Counties Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, made up of law enforcement professionals from Ballard, Carlisle, and Hickman Counties seized over two pounds of methamphetamine on Thursday from a group set up to distribute it in western Kentucky. The investigation found that individuals had paid in advance for drugs and that the ring was buying large amounts of meth in Louisville.
After intercepting the drugs, the task force identified those that had prepaid for the meth and went undercover to "deliver" the meth to them. The deliveries landed six people behind bars plus authorities seized five vehicles and thousands in cash.
Officers arrested Charles “Brad” Copeland of Cunningham, Jason Drake of Cunningham, Charles “Chuckie” Arrington of Arlington, Jeremiah Williams of Milburn, and Mark Pylant of Milburn for attempted trafficking in methamphetamine. Drake was also charged with possession of meth while Arrington was charged with marijuana possession.
Jeremy Tynes of Mayfield was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to trafficking in meth.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are likely to be filed.
