Pedestrian struck and killed in Benton

A pedestrian was hit and killed in Benton on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at about 5:15 a.m. along 5th Street near Collier Funeral Home and the Post Office. Benton Police said their preliminary investigation showed that 40-year-old Anthony Allen of Benton was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Lucas Forsythe, also of Benton.

Police said that Allen was rushed to Marshall County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Marshall County Coroner Kenny Pratt told West Kentucky Star that Allen would be taken to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy on Thursday.
