A Paducah woman has been charged in connection to a single-vehicle crash in Trigg County Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Rocky Ridge Road. Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree got the call about an empty SUV with significant damage in a ditch. Later on Sunday Trigg County dispatch got a call from a man who said that his girlfriend had been involved in a crash in that area.

The woman, later identified as 29-year-old Justice Cordova of Paducah, reportedly told the sheriff that the crash happened as she tried to avoid a deer. Cordova was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and will have to appear in court.

Acree told WKDZ that the investigation is still ongoing and that alcohol could have been a factor.
