A Paducah man was arrested in connection with an incident Thursday night.

Paducah police said 42-year-old Leroy Johnson was taken into custody after reportedly firing a shot at a man at H.C. Mathis Drive and North 14th Street.

A man told officers he was walking on Atkins Avenue when a white SUV almost hit him.

The man said the SUV pulled into a driveway, and he and Johnson got into an argument.

He said Johnson went into the house, returned with a black handgun and fired a shot at him.

Officers went to the house to talk with Johnson, and found a spent shell casing on the front porch.

A search warrant was obtained for Johnson’s house, and officers found a black handgun.

Johnson was charged with attempted murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
