A Paducah man was arrested and charged with assaulting another man with a hammer on Sunday.
McCracken County deputies were dispatched to Mercy Health Lourdes for a report of a male that sustained injures by a male armed with a hammer.
Deputies said 61-year-old Roger Gibson, of Paducah, was reportedly struck with a hammer twice by 43-year-old Lynn Day, also of Paducah, following a verbal argument that turned violent.
Gibson came to the hospital in a personal vehicle for treatment. Deputies then went to the scene of the assault on Butler Lane. Day was later located placed under arrest.
Deputies said they found a small amount of methamphetamine in Day's possession.
Day was charged with assault and possession of a controlled substance.
