A Paducah man is behind bars after allegedly threatening the safety of people at the McCracken County courthouse on Monday.
The McCracken County Sheriff's department said they were alerted at about 10:30 a.m. that a male had made threats to take a gun to the McCracken County Courthouse and start shooting people.
Security at the courthouse was immediately heightened and detectives began investigating the alleged threat. They located and interviewed Richie Byassee. Detectives also located evidence that Byassee had made the threats via telephone.
Byassee was arrested for terroristic threatening and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
Byassee was out on bond for DUI, assault and wanton endangerment stemming from an incident last October.
