Yesterday's high temperature in Paducah was just short of a record, and today looks to be a similar result.
Tuesday's high at Barkley Field was 86 degrees. That was a notch below Paducah's daily record of 87, last reached in 2006.
Today's forecast calls for a high of 87, which would be one degree less than the 1977 mark of 88 degrees.
Thursday's forecast of rain will keep Paducah's high to 82 degrees, and won't challenge another 1977 mark of 87.
However, 88 forecast on Friday would eclipse the daily record of 87, set again in 1977.
Much cooler weekend highs call for 77 on Saturday and just 66 on Sunday.
Paducah's usual daily high for this week is 71 degrees. The daily average high of 80 doesn't arrive until May 18.
