Paducah Water has recently completed its initial inventory of service lines that connect water mains to customers’ homes or businesses.

This ongoing effort is part of the EPA’s updated Lead and Copper Rule which requires each water system across the country to categorize service lines in its system and communicate this information to its customers annually.

In the coming days, customers that have a “lead,” “galvanized,” or “unknown” service line will receive a postcard explaining the material category and where to get more information.

A category of “unknown” simply means that we do not yet have enough information to confirm the service line material. If a customer does not receive a postcard notification, that means we have already confirmed their service line material does not contain lead.

For more information on Paducah Water’s work with the EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule, visit our website at Paducah Water and click the “Lead Awareness” link at the top of the page.
