Paducah Police said an unlicensed 16-year-old male was cited for reckless driving and fleeing or evading police early Tuesday morning.

Officers saw a vehicle "spinning out" and driving recklessly at North 25th Street and Clay at 2:35 a.m. Police had received complaints of similar activity in the neighborhood.

An officer saw the vehicle run through the intersection at a high rate of speed, spinning out and fishtailing.

Police pursued the car into an alley where it pulled into the rear of a Laclede Avenue home. Two people exited and ran, then the car began backing toward the police cruiser, nearly hitting a fence before stoppng.

The teen told officers he took his brother's car without permission. He said when he saw the police cruiser, he fled to his grandmother's Laclede Avenue home.

He was cited and released to his grandmother.

Recent neighborhood meetings throughout the city have included numerous complaints of reckless driving around North 25th and Clay streets, as well as other areas. In response, officers said they're increasing patrols in that area to deter similar driving.
