One man was arrested and two others were cited for an altercation that led to a shooting incident near downtown Paducah.
Paducah Police were called to the area of North 10th and Martin Luther King Drive at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday after a shot rang out. Investigators believe that 45-year-old James Bowland and a 17-year-old juvenile male went to confront a person who allegedly threw eggs at their vehicle.
Bowland, the juvenile, and another man, 39-year-old Thomas Myers, got into a verbal altercation that escalated into a fight. Bowland is said to have pulled a gun from his waist and hit Myers in the head with it. In the melee, the gun reportedly went off sending a bullet through Myers' shoulder and into Bowland's leg.
The injuries to Bowland and Myers were not life-threatening, according to police. The two were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Bowland was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree assault. Myers and the juvenile were cited for 4th-degree assault.
