Paducah's Board of Commissioners held a called meeting Monday evening.
Finance Director Jonathan Perkins and David Hampton of Kemper CPA Group provided an overview of the city’s annual comprehensive financial report, which includes the city audit.
They reported that the audit showed no findings of deficiencies related to the financial statements.
Perkins said that fiscal year 2024 was strong but not quite as strong as 2023; however, the city has had a surplus for each of the past four years. Those funds are set aside for capital projects and to use in case of an emergency.
The board also approved an ordinance to issue general obligation bonds in the approximate principal amount of $27.8 million for the Paducah Sports Park and the Riverfront Infrastructure Improvement Project (BUILD Grant). This would be a 20-year bond, as discussed at the board's November 12 meeting.
The board approved a motion to appoint Commissioner Sandra Wilson as Mayor Pro Tem. Wilson received the highest number of votes in last November’s election.
