The massive piece of mining equipment that fell onto US 60 in Ballard County yesterday and blocked the highway overnight has been recovered and the highway is back open.
The load was placed back on the trailer around 6 a.m. and moved out of the way. It'll stay parked in Ballard County for a while to allow the crews to get some rest from their overnight recovery efforts before the load moves on.
The highway becamed blocked west of Kevil on Monday afternoon when the truck hauling a 286,000-pound piece of mining equipment lost its load while negotiating a curve near Clarkline Road.
A crew arrived from Evansville yesterday to assist in the recovery of the machine. However, additional equipment was needed and also had to be brought in from Evansville.
