Over 100 dachshunds to go up for adoption at 'Weinerpalooza'

More than 100 miniature dachshunds involved in a local 2025 court case will soon be available for adoption now that the case has been settled.

The McCracken County Humane Society said it has possession of the dogs, and is having them spayed or neutered in time for a large one-day event to have them all placed in homes.

The event, dubbed "Weinerpalooza," will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 at their location on Coleman Road.

The gates will open at 8:30 a.m., and adoptions will begin at 9. Numbers will be handed out "first come, first served" to people in line who have completed an adoption application.

Applications can be completed ahead of time at the Humane Society, but they stress that submitting an application early does not reserve a place in line or guarantee an adoption.

People who have not applied in advance may complete an application at the event and will receive a number after their application is processed. Numbers will be drawn and called in groups of five to 10, allowing applicants to enter and select a dog.

Adoptions will be limited to two dachshunds per household.

Applicants must provide a photo ID and veterinarian information. Renters must also provide a copy of their lease showing that pets are allowed.

The event will also include food trucks and children’s activities.
