UPDATE: The deadline is approaching for Mayfield residents to respond to the city's survey about moving to a single franchise for trash pickup.
In a post on Monday, city planning director Justin Carrico mentioned that the deadline of September 30 is looming. Mayfield officials have heard from about 500 residents, but they would like many more to voice their preferences.
The survey is available online, or you can stop in and fill one out on a computer provided at City Hall.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The City of Mayfield has opened an online survey about their proposal to institute a single citywide trash pickup service.
For now, a number of private trash services operate in the city. Mayfield officials believe that a single franchise would cut down on redundant truck routes, meaning less noise and less wear on streets.
They say it could improve safety, and lead to stable and often cheaper pricing. The city could also better oversee the quality and performance of the provider. A reduction of illegal dumping and improved public health could also be a result.
Mayfield residents and businesses are asked to respond to the survey by September 30.
