An officer-involved shooting in Marshall County on Tuesday morning sent one man to a Paducah hospital and another to jail.

A deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office was reportedly investigating suspicious activity on Harold King Drive in Benton when he encountered a man who allegedly pointed a weapon in the direction of the deputy. The deputy fired his weapon and wounded the man.

The individual was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A second man was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree burglary. He was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht has asked Kentucky State Police to investigate the shooting incident in order to ensure tranparency. KSP will not release any other information until the first phase of their investigation is complete.
