North Carolina woman arrested following I-24 crash in Christian County

An early Monday morning traffic accident on I-24 in Christian County led to the arrest of a North Carolina woman.

WHOP reported the Christian County Sheriff's Office as saying 41-year-old Reenada Perez of Franklinton, NC was arrested after she caused the wreck and was under the influence. 

When investigators arrived at the scene of the two car crash, Perez was reportedly unstable on her feet, smelled of alcohol and said she drank while at a dinner with her family.

A witness told investigators Perez was driving down I-24 at a high rate of speed and swerved before the wreck. Perez sideswiped a vehicle causing the driver to leave the roadway and strike several yards of a cable barrier. 

Perex was charged with several offenses including criminal mischief, wanton endangerment and operating a vehicle under the inflience of alcohol.  She was lodged in the Christian County Regional Jail.
