New Nine Eagles memorial honors 101st soldiers lost in 2023 helicopter collision

On Saturday, the new memorial was dedicated honoring nine Fort Campbell soldiers who perished in a midair helicopter collision two years ago to the day after a night training mission over Trigg County.

Members of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, family members, military officials and local residents were there for prayers, remembrances and the unveiling of the new granite edifice that overlooks the crash site about a half mile to the south.

The Nine Eagles memorial will be the centerpiece of a park setting that will eventually chronicle the military history of Trigg County.

The Trigg County Veterans Memorial Park is located at the intersection of KY 272 and Hwy 68/80.
