A Murray man was indicted by a federal grand jury in early August with possession of a destructive device.
Officials said 20-year-old Jack Thomas Epperson was found to be in possession of a Molotov cocktail that was not listed in the National Firearms Registry and Transfer Record.
Epperson appeared in court on Monday. If he is convicted, he could face a maximum of 10 years in prison.
The charges stem from an incident that took place last September. Authorities said Epperson threw the explosive toward a group of students at the Murray State campus.
None of the students were injured.
