A Murray man is facing charges after reportedly punching a Calloway County deputy in the face during a fight.

The Sheriff’s office was called to the Murray Hospital emergency room early Sunday morning to investigate an assault.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was assaulted at their home. Deputies went to the victim’s home to speak with the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Kenneth Benjamin.

While they were talking with him, deputies said Benjamin got into a fight with another individual.

As deputies tried to break up the fight, a deputy reportedly got punched in the face.

The deputy did not require medical attention.

Benjamin was arrested and charged with assault, assault of a police officer and terroristic threatening.
