A Murray man was charged Friday with making threats about the safety of Lyon County Middle School.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said that Kentucky State Police received a call on Thursday alleging that 30-year-old Steven M. Jester had made multiple threatening statements about the safety of the Lyon County Middle School while he was at work in Murray.
On Friday while evidence was being collected in Calloway County, Lyon County deputies said Jester was found at a home in Eddyville, only a few blocks away from the Lyon County Schools campus.
Deputies said several firearms components and various types of ammunition were found in Jester’s possession and taken as evidence.
Police interviewed Jester, then took him to an area hospital. After a medical clearance, Jester was released Friday morning. Officers petitioned the Calloway County District Court for an arrest warrant, and Friday afternoon Jester was arrested in Eddyville.
He was charged with terroristic threatening and taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.
