A Murray man was charged with making a false report to law enforcement on Saturday.

Calloway County deputies responded about 12:15 a.m. to a residence on Woodlawn Street after 39-year-old Shayne Davis repeatedly contacted the E-911 Communications Center for matters that were not law enforcement related.

During his final call, Davis reported what appeared to be a legitimate emergency, prompting deputies to respond with emergency equipment. But when they arrived, deputies determined the reported incident was false.

The false report required an emergency response, unnecessarily placing both the public and responding deputies at risk.

Davis was arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center, charged with making a false report which generates an emergency response, a class D felony, along with harassing communications.
