The Murray State University police department will receive $1.1 million in a federal grant from the Commerce Justice Science Byrne Justice Program. 

The grant will assist the university's police department with updating their communications and surveillance technologies. 

It's part of a successful Community Project Funding request through the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. and

Murray State University President Dr. Bob Jackson thanked Congressman James Comer for his support in securing the grant.

The university's police department is accredited with the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police and is staffed 24/7.
