During a special called meeting Friday, Murray State University's Board of Regents made interim appointments for two staff positions.
WKMS reported Kelly Scriggs was appointed to be the school's Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services replacing Dr. Laura Foltz, who was placed on leave from the job in August. Scruggs will begin her new duties November 16th. She is currently a partner in the Paducah accounting firm of Williams, Williams & Lentz.
Murray State president Dr. Ron Patterson also said Scruggs is also a candidate to fill the Murray State leadership role on a permanent basis and will also serve as the board of regents’ treasurer.
Joel Sims was chosen as the school's interim director for procurement services. Sims, who will begin his new post November 8th, has served in the same position at Tennessee State University for the last 15 years. He replaces Darcie Liddle who was also placed on leave in August.
Liddle has since filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the university alleging she was pushed out of her role after voicing concerns about school leaders potentially violating state procurement law.
