Murray's City Council voted during its Thursday night meeting to place a one week moratorium on applications for a data center.
The Murray Sentinel reported in a Facebook post Mayor Bob Rogers asked the Murray Planning Commission to review its revised draft ordinance at its regular meeting next Tuesday and advance it to the city council to hold its first reading in a special called meeting next Thursday.
Council member Wesley Bolin commented on The Murray Sentinel's post saying he agreed with the moratorium and is against date centers coming to Murray.
He said he had hoped fo a longer moratorium, but the city was limited in its legal avenues to regulate and control the process of business development.
Bolin added he is confident the process will bring citizens a strong ordinance that protects Murray and makes sure that data centers will not be part of the future of the community.
Earlier this week, the Murray Planning Commission voted 6-1 to revise its proposed data center regulations rather than send the draft ordinance to the Murray City Council.
