We may have seen the last of uncomfortabled heat and humidity, according to the extended outlook from the National Weather Service.
The Climate Prediction Center's latest 6-to-10 day forecast puts us almost dead center in a circle showing the likelihood that colder than normal temperatures will move in after September 11.
That points toward temperatures that cold be 10 or more degrees cooler than what we've had so far this week.
In Paducah, that's a change from low 80s the rest of this week, to mid-70s later next week. In southern Illinois, low 70s could be common a week from now.
Paducah's normal high temperature for mid-September is usually about 83 degrees.
On their Facebook page, NWS meteorologists at Barkley Field think the cooler temperatures could even extend beyond mid-September.
No major bouts of precipitation are predicted for the period so far.
