Metropolis traffic stop leads to drug charge for passenger

A traffic stop last Thursday in Metropolis ended with a drug charge for the passenger.

A Metropolis Police Officer said he stopped a car for improper lane usage. The driver, stated he was lighting a cigarette and driving with his knees and police said he could not provide proof of insurance. 

As the citation was being written, the Metropolis K9 conducted a free air search around the vehicle and reportedly alerted numerous times. Police said they found 4 baggies containing Methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia in the purse of the passenger, 44-year-old Buffy J. Parker.

Parker was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was cited and released for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
