Metropolis man arrested following domestic incident

A call to police about a domestic incident Saturday in Metropolis landed one man in jail.

Metropolis Police officers were called to the Spence Apartments where they reportedly could hear a man yelling threats at a woman. After they entered the apartment, they spoke with a victim who said she was struck several times and choked. Officers said they could see marks on her neck. 

Officers learned that the suspect, 32-year-old Christopher E. Gibbs of Metropolis, had already been banned from the property. 

Gibbs was charged with domestic battery and criminal trespassing. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
