Last week, Metropolis police were called to the Motel 6 on U.S. 45 just off I-24 for a report of a robbery.
While on the way, an officer spotted a vehicle speeding north on 45. The people in the vehicle matched the description of those allegedly involved, so the officer attempted to stop the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle uncovered the cash allegedly taken from the motel.
Police confirmed, using video from the motel, that the driver, 31-year-old Justin G. Walpool of Shreveport, Louisiana, allegedly grabbed money from the cash drawer. He fled when confronted by employees who had been in the motel office.
Police arrested Walpool and his passenger, 29-year-old Michelle N. Coleman of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Walpool was charged with burglary, theft and fleeing/eluding police. Coleman had a warrant for her arrest out of , Texas for aggravated assault with a firearm. She was additionally charged with burglary and theft.
Both were taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
