A McCracken County traffic stop led to multiple charges for a Madisonville woman Friday night.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said a deputy stopped a vehicle on Metropolis Lake Road for a traffic infraction. A search of the vehicle led to a series of events that resulted in the arrest of the driver, 40-year-old Kerstain Wilson.

A deputy said he heard a noise resembling glass hitting the pavement near the area where Wilson was standing while he searched the vehicle. A glass smoking pipe was reportedly discovered beneath the deputy’s vehicle that Wilson is said to have thrown.

As the deputy attempted to place Wilson into custody, she allegedly resisted arrest, leading to a brief struggle. Wilson was quickly subdued, taken into custody, and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment due to injuries sustained during the altercation.

Wilson is charged with tampering with physical evidence,
operating a motor vehicle under the influence, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open alcohol Container in a motor vehicle and disregarding a stop sign.
