Mayfield foster parent arrested after claims of child abuse

A Mayfield man will face charges after claims he abused a child he was fostering.

Deputies said video evidence recently surfaced of a man, identified as 51-year-old David Sassman, physically and verbally abusing a child.

After a joint investigation involving the sheriff's office and the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services, Sassman was arrested Thursday evening at his home in Mayfield.

Sassman was taken to the McCracken County jail.
