Marshall County's first responders were presented with awards on Tuesday, recognizing their actions following December's devastating storm.
The Marshall County Fiscal Court presented the county's first responders with Citations of Heroism from the Kentucky House of Representatives for demonstrating extraordinary courage, compassion, and professional skill in a critical time of need, following the catastrophic tornado on December 10th.
In a statement, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office said these have been very trying times for many residents in western Kentucky along with employees of the sheriff's office and other responding agencies and volunteers.
"We are extremely proud of all of them." The sheriff's office said, "Most of them worked long hours and on their scheduled days off trying to offer any help and comfort they could to the residents outside of their daily job duties."
The sheriff's office said they were thankful for the help that was sent to the region from other agencies and organizations from across the state and country.
