A Marshall County Sheriff's deputy was among 31 that graduated Thursday from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training's basic training academy.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Christopher Beavers graduated, garnering the Recruit of Distinction honor, as well as Class Leader, and Fit for Duty.

Also graduating in the current class was Deputy Ashley Copeland of Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

The graduates received over 800 hours of instruction over a period of 20 weeks.

Governor Andy Beshear said of the graduates, "We look forward to the good work you will do once you return to your communities. Congratulations to these 31 men and women who have dedicated themselves to 20 weeks of extensive basic training. I ask the commonwealth to join me and First Lady Beshear in prayer for a safe and fulfilling career of service for these heroes."
